Let's Go Rangers!
Had to get that out. Been waiting to say it for an awful long time. The Rangers simply took care of business last night. A very good sign for a team that until the last 20 games of the season had a penchant for making things hard on themselves, especially in the 3rd period. This time, they played tough.
But the Rangers look like they'll have a much tougher foe in the next round, either Ottawa or Buffalo.
And I'll say this about Buffalo again. They may be not beating up on Islanders as much as you would think, but they are a far superior team, and they are good. Fast and strong, and most important, relentless. The score last night wound up 4-2 with an empty net goal, but the Islanders rarely got opportunities in the last period. The only one was the replay disallowed goal, which seemed to be a tough call.
Devils took back home ice in their series with bigtime road overtime win. They're not done yet.
Good games tonight, looks like.

Nothing yet. Still trying to get in touch with our sports staff's Tommy Bowman, our one 'hockey guy' at least when it comes to local hockey.

OK, hockey fans. We are indeed getting an SPHL team. Big announcement set for Wednesday afternoon at the Joel.
Details unclear, but word is definitive: MINOR LEAGUE HOCKEY RETURNS TO WINSTON-SALEM.
Hmmm, that might be too big a headline considering the attendance for the last 2 teams.
I hereby vow to attend at least half a dozen games, which will be half a dozen more than I went to see of the last team.
