But last night was not a very good performance by the 'Canes, who continue to struggle to find consistent scoring. It's strange for a team that was so well-balanced last year. But this is what the first half of the season is about. Hopefully, Cam Ward is learning what it means to be an every day goalie, and their scoring/consistency will improve in the second half. They are lucky to be about .500.
But by the time the holidays are done, they will need to start picking up the pace in a very competitive conference.
I caught some of the Pittsburgh-Washington game last night. Very entertaining, though neither team seems likely to me to make it to the playoffs. If Pittsburgh can pick up some defensemen, they will be tough by next year. Their young goalie is way improved over the times I've been him in past.

Yeah, and the downward slide continues at home. The Hurricanes beat themselves last night against Toronto, a team that is very talented but has also been struggling(sound familiar?). They have another problem other than lack of consistent offense and that is discipline. I did not think i would be seeing that considering how few penalties they have given up in years past. You cannot give a team two 5 on 3 chances and not expect trouble. Well it is a long season and everything before the All-Star break is basically warm up and practice. Entertaining or frustrating depending on how well your team(s) is doing but nonetheless not vital in the overall scheme of things. Let's just hope that injuries will level off and they will be ready for a run for the playoffs.
I too am a Ranger fan and agree with you about Lundquist. Let's hope they can build on his play and make a run for the play-offs too. That would sell some tickets, wouldn't it?
